WoMENA Hosts Regional Dialogue on Ending Violence Against Women

November 8, 2026

WoMENA, an initiative of the Al Hurriya Liberal Network (AHLN), convened an online regional dialogue on November 29, 2025, to examine challenges and responses to violence against women across the Arab world and North Africa. The webinar took place during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Facilitated by Loubna Amhair, the discussion featured contributions from Mauritania, Lebanon, Morocco, and Egypt. Speakers examined the structural and cultural factors that perpetuate violence and shared national experiences in prevention, protection, and support.

The exchange considered legal frameworks and public policies, their effectiveness in practice, and survivors’ access to psychological, social, and legal assistance. Participants also discussed recommendations for strengthening cooperation across the region.

By connecting experiences from different national contexts, the webinar created space to identify shared challenges and exchange approaches. Its focus was on moving towards more comprehensive responses: stronger protection, accessible support, and sustained cooperation to address violence against women.
